howto How to add remote conversion server in KVS
Helmuts DNMUM.com replied to Tech Support's topic in Educational Series
Thank you for this information - we have just set up the 2nd conversion server, and it shows "Active". -- My client has 1 Ultimate and 2x Basic + 2x Advanced KVS licenses that with time will all get upgraded to Advanced. What process would you suggest to share conversion servers across several KVS sites? Thank you, Helmuts -

Also done: 1) /admin/tools/remote_cron.php script taken from my KVS directory and uploaded to the conversion server. 2) played with several cron jobs with FastPanel (panel prefered by the KVS team): cd /var/www/fastuser/data/www/conversion2.websiteaddress && /usr/bin/php remote_cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1 and tried cd /var/www/fastuser/data/www/conversion2.websiteaddress && /usr/bin/php remote_cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1 >> config.properties fails to get created ----- Even created a dir: /conversion , gave it '777' permissions, moved the remote_cron.php file there and created a new cron > still the config.properties fails to get created Am I missing something? Thank you in advance, Helmuts

Good morning, I have searched through all the KVS site and this forum, and haven't been able to find a tutorial on setting up a conversion server. Do you have a link to the documentation/setup process of a conversion server? So far I have set up Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, have installed ffmpeg, imagemagick, yamdi (qt-faststart doesn't continue as ffmpeg is already installed), have set up fastpanel and added A record to the subdomain. I understand that you offer this as an additional service for lazy people > I wish to set it up myself, and the documentation where all the information is at 1 place is needed. Thank you in advance, Helmuts

development KVS 5.5.0 discussion and poll

Hi, has anything changed 2 years later? I am really curious about live streaming, and would absolutelly love to stream on our tube site. Pluses: saves time on downloading & re-uploading the recorded stream all the traffic can be directed to the kvs (instead of other sites where the stream goes to) live comments are Gold tx .. if not > what would be the best alternative solutions? thank you -
Hi. So far we have 1 KVS client (conversion & storage servers). We have our own kvs site dedicated to domaining dnmum.com and thinking of setting up another one (a tube for Latvian webmasters). As my team are getting more used to KVS, I am thinking of starting offering KVS servers for new clients. Do you mind sharing your experience and maybe even experience of dealing with your favourite hosting provider? And, could you share your experience if any of these numbers are overkill or oposite, too low? Main Server (website): - CPU - 4 Cores & 8 Threads - RAM - 64GB - Disk Space - 2x 480GB (RAID 1) - HDD Type - Datacentre SSD or NVMe - Bandwidth - Unmetered Traffic - Connection - 1GB + incl. server support (up to 8hrs/month) We have a client with 1.5 - 2.5 mil/month users = used space 66Gb / bandwith 961Gb/month ***** Conversion Server: - CPU - 8 Cores and 16 Threads - RAM - 64GB - Disk Space - 2x 480Gb (RAID 1) - HDD Type - Datacentre SSD or NVMe - Bandwidth - Unmetered Traffic - Connection - 1GB + incl. server support (up to 8hrs/month) Our client: traffic usage 212GB with spikes (max 32GB/day) * we also have v2 conversion server (for double the price) with: CPU - 8 Cores and 16 Threads (Intel Xeon W-2245) and RAM 128GB ***** Storage Server: - CPU - 4 Cores & 8 Threads - RAM - 64GB - Disk Space - 2x 10 TB (RAID 1) and up - HDD Type - SATA - Bandwidth - 5TB and up (we offer unmetered) - Connection - 1GB - Bandwidth - Unmetered Traffic + incl. server support (up to 8hrs/month) -- https://www.hostmaria.com/cart.php?gid=18 -- I'm targeting $155/month per these servers. I am still thinking of the best backup solution for these. What do you use for backup? Would love to hear any thoughts, comments. H p.s. what are the requirements to become a KVS hosting partner?

Hi, would it work with YouTube as well? Tx, Helmuts

All done. 1) Updated the language file 2) Uploaded 1200x630px image to /static/images 3) In "Page Components" edited include_header_general.tpl replaced: <meta property="og:image" content="{{$config.statics_url}}{{$lang.logo|default:"/static/images/logo.png"}}"/> with: <meta property="og:image" content="/static/images/dnmum-og.jpg" /> --- much better :)

Dailymotion and vimeo will not allow adult content. Another problem (with lots of possible side effects and stress) - you need to own the rights for the content if you wish to upload it to your servers. You need to consider multi-server setup and the KVS Ultimate licence (will allow users to upload videos to your site) if you want to have a chance to make it BIG in building a successful X tube. Anyway, all the best! H
