  1. We have some small set of features for 5.4.0 that should be in place by the end of year. Then we will start working with HLS and whatever else our customers vote from the above list. There will be more features added for sure, because typically each huge feature requires some neighbor enhancements. Please vote!
  2. Great news! Finally we have built up everything together and can share our Nextgen Admin panel GUI to collect your feedback. Meanwhile we still need some time to adjust all admin panel functionality, the 90% of work is accomplished. Please take some time to play with the new functionality and let us know if you have something in your mind that needs to be enhanced. To see the demo version of the Videos grid and editor please login to KVS demo admin panel and click Nextgen item in the main menu: https://kvs-demo.com/admin/ Here is summary on the main changes and features. We also plan to introduce the dark skin when the main is finalized. General GUI The whole project was started with the new admin panel design that will also look nicely on mobile devices. There are new colors, icons and same control look and feel across different browsers: The old admin panel supported editors as popups, but in the new version we didn't yet manage to support this, so for the time being this feature will not be available. In future we will most likely return it. We finally introduced calendar controls: Selector controls now support displaying details of the selected items: All editor sections are not collapsible with "memory" function: List selector controls provide ability to skip filter when displaying filtered results: Popups now support move and resize actions with "memory" function. All popups are classified on different types and can be positioned differently, e.g. upload popup, list selector popup, preview popup and etc: Instead of using browser built-in confirmation dialogs KVS will now show its own (with resize and reposition memory option) and destructive actions highlight: Both grids and editors now have bottom bar fixed independent on scrolling, so the bottom actions are always available without the need to scroll down: Grid enhancements Here are main grid changes highlighted: Grid named presets are now supported. You can create as much presets as you want, with given filters, columns and sorting. Quickly switch between different grid views for different tasks. At any time it will be possible to reset to the default grid view by choosing Default preset. Grid will now display only the currently active filters. Each filter can be easily changed / removed without any additional actions. Grid customize popup will support Ctrl+S combination for quick submit. The number of items per page can be quickly switched between multiple predefined numbers. Grid item selectors will summarize the whole number of selected items at the top. Destructive actions are highlighted in grid menu. Each grid link will now produce its own menu with ability to open editor of the clicked object, or add it to the filter, or replace the current filter with filtering by this object. Template editors In template editors we added support for syntax highlight and some advanced editing capabilities: Smarty syntax highlight is fully supported (e.g. keywords, strings, variables, modifiers, numbers) HTML tags have basic highlight (only tag names are highlighted) Lines numbers are displayed on the side gutter Smarty block match is highlighted: when you put cursor on the starting or ending tag KVS will highlight the whole block for clear view. Most common smarty syntax errors are highlighted, like missing of closing tag. Another important change in this area is new bottom toolbar that has Quick save button, Fullscreen editing button, and buttons that allow you quickly insert common Smarty fragments ({{if}}, {{if}} - {{else}}, {{foreach}}, {{$variable}} and etc.) and KVS functions (block display, page component include, advertising spot and other). Quick save button is designed to quickly save template changes without saving the whole editor and refreshing the page. This is highly desired when you edit specific template part and may need many iterations of changes to get the needed result. Fullscreen option will expand editor to the whole browser tab size, and at the same time will allow using Ctrl+S combination for Quick save action (instead of regular editor save action). So template editing now will become much more convenient, very similar to your local editor. Template editing will now fully support tabulation and block movement using Tab and Shift-Tab combinations:
  3. Quite often hiring a dedicated front-end developer for web-projects is a key to the survival for many businesses. Is this a type of service you're looking for? AdultHTML is here for you. About AdultHTML AdultHTML is a full-service design & coding company based in the EU. We're a team of skilled web-designers and developers. With 14+ years of experience behind our backs we know how to create good-looking and user-friendly Affiliate Sites, Tubes, Escort Sites, Webcams, Dating, Review, Pay Sites and many other custom made projects. We are experienced in working with successful businesses and startups, with independent webmasters and web-platforms owners. Make sure of it yourself, have a look at the AdultHTML’s portfolio. We had the privilege to work on ThePornDude, Tube Profit, Kum.com, Fapnado, PornDiscounts, CamBB, PornDudeCasting and many others sites. Dedicated front-end developer - what does it mean? A dedicated expert in front-end development is usually hired to work on particular tasks (fixes/optimization, improvements, building new web projects, etc) for an extended period. During this time a specialist works on a full-time basis. Collaborating with AdultHTML a client can be sure that a coder will use tech tools he is familiar and comfortable with. That is HTML/CSS/JS, React, VueJS. To meet project specifics efficiently a dev can also operate with another stack. The price for this service starts at $1450 (4 hours per day, with possibility to work up to 8 hours per day). The final figure depends on your requirements and preferences. So feel free to get in touch with our PM to determine each of them and to get a concrete quote. Benefits of hiring a dedicated front-end developer Do you think that hiring a dedicated front-end developer gives no real benefits to a business? We can prove you otherwise. Let’s look at the most important perks of thi service: ◼ Constant Support. Give a specialist specific tasks and he will work on them full time. With the help of a dedicated front-end developer you can get your project done despite any obstacles. ◼ Cost-efficiency. The fact that hiring someone in-house gets the entire budgeting of your company doubled shouldn’t be a big surprise as you need to pay for office infrastructure (office space, computers, amenities, etc.). Are you looking for a cost cutting solution? A dedicated front-end developer is the one you need. In this case the price you pay includes the hiring cost itself only. ◼Time savings. Don’t waste your time on interviewing large quantities of people including those who at the end of the day might be unprofessional. Hiring a dedicated front-end developer from the reliable company gets you a perfect match lightning fast. There are so many companies that provide dedicated developer’s services, so why hire from AdultHTML? We offer you: ◼ quick communication with the expert via digital channel; ◼ a great level of understanding between the hired dedicated front-end pro and your designers, back-end developers (which leads to a high quality of the final job result); ◼ risk-free (the specialist will catch up with your deadlines); ◼ steady workflow 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) even when unseen circumstances occur; ◼ full transparency in terms of monitoring the progress of the project building (our PM relies on the Hubstaff tracker). Do you have any ideas in mind? We can tap into our qualified front-end developers pool to match the candidate that would be the perfect fit for your project. 4. Here are results of our 2-month poll about the most wanted upcoming features. Thank you everyone for your time to vote, so besides HLS we will also work on these features: User notification system, ability for users to get notifications about some events (new comments for their videos for example) Ability to reply comments (e.g. hierarchical comments) User achievements, badges (for example after posting XX comments, or uploading XX videos) For the rest of features, they will be included into the next poll.
  5. Just to make it clear, we are actively working on 5.6.0, we just didn't post any updates yet. We are working on a huge feature (not HLS again), but it will definitely be highly welcomed by every KVS user. We will post an update as soon all the main things are finalized.
  6. We added a small feature to 5.4.0 that will allow keeping HTTP parameters in all 301 redirects generated by KVS. At the moment KVS generates 301 redirects for content pages when object directory is modified, e.g.: https://www.kvs-demo.com/videos/372/sadgfasdgadfhdfh/ -> 301 redirect -> https://www.kvs-demo.com/videos/372/andrea-bocelli-christina-aguilera-somos-novios/ However if you add some parameter to the original URL, they will disappear in redirect: https://www.kvs-demo.com/videos/372/sadgfasdgadfhdfh/?utm_source=test -> 301 redirect -> https://www.kvs-demo.com/videos/372/andrea-bocelli-christina-aguilera-somos-novios/ We added an option in Settings -> Site settings to allow passing these parameters into redirects as well: This option will be activated by default for all new installations, but will be not be activated during update, so that update doesn't break the old behavior.
  7. In video formats we added ability to specify pre-roll and post-roll videos that will be attached to all video file created by KVS or uploaded manually. These options will be available in video format settings: You can use this for better branding or for injecting ads directly into video files. This feature will be part of 5.2.1 update.
  8. In Push notifications plugin we added ability to enable it only for specific traffic (referers), which may be useful if you don't want to show push notifications for all traffic: ReCAPTCHA plugin was updated with ability to configure separate keys for alias domains if your project is working in parallel under several domains:
  9. One of the first features we added into KVS 5.1 is WebP image format support for video screenshots. WebP is a modern image format promoted by Google and supported by major browsers (78.37% support coverage at this moment). The key feature of this format is HUGE - 30-50% - image size reduction in comparison with JPG while keeping visual quality almost the same. Since this format is not 100% supported, it can only be used as an addition to standard JPG format. It is highly recommended to try using this format after updating to 5.1 due to many benefits it provides: - Less traffic usage for your front end - Less HDD load for your image server - Better SEO rankings due to smaller page sizes and faster page loads In KVS we added support for WebP in overview and timeline screenshots. In screenshot format settings it is now possible to choose new Image type field between JPG and WebP: If your ImageMagick build supports this format, you can also use a variety of IM options to control its quality as described in IM guidelines: https://imagemagick.org/script/webp.php Then it will be possible to configure WebP format as alternate format in theme settings (will require manual theme update after KVS update, but new versions will have this by default): And also in player settings for timeline screenshots:
  10. We will use this topic to post updates on 4.1 implementation. In 4.0 we didn't implement everything that was initially planned, which probably left some customers frustrated. We are sorry for that, however we cannot guarantee any features prior to when we finally add and announce them. The reason is that everything is being constantly changing and the market is changing all the time, so we have to react to that and adopt our initial plans to the new reality. In 4.0 we were planning some email enhancements there were not even started. In contrast we completely refactored advertising module and did many enhancements in grabbers and player. This was not planned initially, but this became highly demanded during the year. In 4.1 we would also like to share our top level plans, but again we would like to highlight that these are plans, nothing is guaranteed unless finally implemented. Ours plans are actually fully driven by our clients, except some features we are constantly adding for better support (e.g. more logging and etc., features that help us reduce support effort that is constantly being increased with more and more new customers and projects are coming each month). So 90% of the features we are adding are being proposed by you - our valued customers. If you want to propose a new feature, just create a support ticket and try to explain in much details why this feature is useful for you and why you will benefit from it. If we agree that this feature will benefit most of KVS customers, we will definitely consider it even if was not planned. If this feature is very easy to add, we may add it into the next update even if this is a very limited feature and most likely won't affect other KVS users. But if the proposed feature is technically difficult and we are not convinced that it will provide much benefit, then most likely we will refuse to add it in the near future, not because we do not want to work on it, but because we think we have much more important things to add into the next update. High priority features for 4.1 1) Complete emailing refactoring. We know this is annoying issue for many people and would like to finally close it. Requirements that we plan here: Ability to easily set up public email service to send emails (gmail and etc.) Ability to configure email templates in admin panel, extend support for tokens that can be used in emails. Ability to translate email templates to multiple languages similarly to other content in KVS. Ability to enable / disable certain emails from one place. 2) Automated audit and admin notifications. This one becomes more and more annoying as well. Also we think it may help to reduce support by providing constant project monitoring and better understanding of what went wrong. Requirements that we plan here: Create log table to log any issues that arise from time to time. Extend audit plugin with some more checks. Run audit plugin on scheduled basis to make sure that any issues will be reported ASAP. Report summary email to admin on a daily basis (traffic stats, content stats, project status). Report critical issues to admin's email immediately when they are identified. 3) HLS format investigation. We already started this and have some promising results. This is highly demanded feature by many whale customers and projects that render full-length videos. We do not have any requirements defined for it yet, but if our initial investigation goes as planned, this one may be quite easy and we will include it. However if it turns out that we need much effort here, we will postpone this one. 4) For paysites - more alternative payment processors and support for shopping cart. Requirements that we plan here: Crypto billing. Shopping cart block so that members can purchase content without using tokens - just choose what they need and immediately pay the whole amount. Tentative: ability to purchase internal subscriptions as well. Low priority features for 4.1 1) We would like to extend videos and albums for more images you can upload for them. Requirements that we plan here: In videos we would like to add support for 2 images (posters) that can be uploaded separately from screenshots. For these we will create a new screenshot format group, similar to what we already have for overview and timeline screenshots. These new images can be used for enhancing your site theme, e.g. showing some vertical and horizontal images for each video in an advanced layout. In albums KVS already has ability to upload a poster. We will extend to allow uploading one more poster image, so that in total you can upload 2 poster images. Subtitles text file upload for videos. 2) Comments and rating enhancements. Requirements that we plan here: Ability to reply to other comments (hierarchy). Ability to disable comments / rating to specific content (from admin panel and user area). Ability to sort comments by votes (show top rated comments). These are our initial plans for 4.1. We hope that top priority tasks won't take much and we will be able to implement low priority features. If we decide to release 4.1 right after some top priority are done, all other features will become top priority for 4.2. With 4.x we would like to make updates available faster, ideally each 2 months, so that new features go live as soon as possible.
  11. NOTE: this version was initially planned as 3.9.2, but finally resulted in versioning change to 4.0. There will no be 3.9.2 version available, after 3.9.1 we will switch to 4.0. We are very close to finalizing 3.9.1 update and pushing it to beta testing mode. We will use this topic to post updates on 4.0 implementation. Meanwhile here are our high level plans for 4.0, please feel free to post your comments and proposals for the highlighted areas, as it will be much easier to consider them initially then to re-do in future. We are not sure if all of these areas will be done in 4.0, it depends on their implementation effort, but if not they will be moved to 4.1 version then. AREA 1. Mail system. Complete emailing refactoring. Support for new emails: welcome email on signup, notification about new messages, notification about comments posted to the user's content, notification about payout sent to user. It should be possible to configure the frequency of sending some notifications in admin panel: if they should be sent immediately or should be summarized on a daily / weekly basis. A new site block should be added to allow users subscribe or unsubscribe certain notifications. Should be possible to include unsubscribe link in every email sent. By default users will be subscribed to all enabled emails in the system. Ability to configure scheduled emails with updates on the site - here you should be able to use standard template functions like adding blocks and rendering email similar to any page on your site. For example it should be possible to render top videos / albums of the last week and send to your users each weekend. AREA 2. Automated audit and admin notifications. In KVS you can run audit plugin in manual mode to check your project for any issues. KVS can check up to 95% of all possible issues and in most cases if something is not working, audit plugin will report that. However in some cases you may not even notice that something is wrong until you manually run audit plugin. AREA 3. Comments. Requirements that we plan here: Ability to reply to other comments (hierarchy). Ability to show users comments to their uploaded content. Ability to disable comments to specific content (from admin panel and user area). Ability to sort comments by votes (show top rated comments). AREA 4. Video conversion. Requirements that we plan here: Optimize trailer creation with new ffmpeg features. Investigate into applying dynamic watermarks. Investigate into possibility to embed pre-roll / post-roll video fragments into each video file. AREA 5. VAST support. Add support for VAST advertising into KVS player.
