What is the process of a video being uploaded to KVS, using an Ultimate Licence and 3 server setup?

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon,

What is the process of a video being uploaded to KVS, using an Ultimate Licence and 3 server setup?

One of the main questions, at this stage: Where is the video uploaded initially? To the server where the website is hosted, or directly to the conversion server? Thank you.

Is there a technical documentation of this process?

Thank you,

Helmuts

It is not possible to upload video directly to conversion server, because in KVS conversion server doesn't have / require any HTTP installed. And another point is that video file should be validated, before KVS can allow to process video. This would be very complicated if the video file is uploaded to some external server, then frontend should use external call to that server to return validation result and so on.

So all the files are uploaded to the primary server where main KVS admin is installed. If you want frontend to be moved to another physical server, then you can use satellite for this in something like this config:

1) Primary server: main admin panel and conversion: admin.domain.com. Also upload.domain.com as an alias to allow files upload to this server via subdomain.

2) Secondary server: domain.com - satellite, main frontend. Users only see this server, admins only see server #1, and upload also goes to server #1 via subdomain.
