    GPU conversion is not as optimal as CPU. Sizes and quality may vary with GPU's depending on the codec. I would say the best server is the one with more cores say a 32-64 core server can convert between 6-10 videos in parallel. I have 32 core server at the moment it does around 100 x 4(qualites) a day. It can do alot more but I dont have more uploads. Just make sure they are not ARM procs and its fine really.

    plesk and cpanel don't seem to support the modules and settings required by the KVS software, it would be interesting to hear if anyone uses them successfully?

    I use Hestiacp for KVS this an updated fork from Vestacp. I can only recommend it works great.

    Will you guys make some improvements for the albums aswell? For instance a replace all with zip button would be nice. Now you still have to delete the old images manually after.

    You can change everything pretty much. You dont really need the open source. Everything can be done using ajax pretty much.

    I mean its simple really. Just use a dedicated server that has like 8 cores. it can easily handle couple million a month - source my own sites.
     

    converting 200-400 videos a day is only possible if you get like 10-20 low core VPS servers.

    Also I never understood the sync mechanism

    does it copy from storage server - main server - storage server? why is that? Wouldn't it be easier to call an Rsync on one of the servers to the other? The passwords can be the same as the FTP users. It would be more accurate and quicker. There is a high chance that the main server copies from a server that is located in the US for instance. and the other server is in china.

    Is there any quick fix for this? or could this be added in the future?

    For example, at the moment KVS supports only 2 groups of video formats: Standard and Premium. With adding HLS we have to allow as many format groups as needed and we want to unconnect them from video type (at the moment Public and Private videos are using Standard format group and Premium videos are using Premium format group). This is needed because a lot of old customers would want to use HLS for new videos, possibly leaving old videos in MP4 format. So they should be able to create a new format group with another set of video formats (including HLS) for new videos.

    So HLS feature requires some other connecting features, which themselves require more other connecting features and etc, so the impact will be huge and thus could be divided into iterations.

    Not possible now, but we will add this into 5.3.1, sounds to be an easy fix.

    I was wondering something similar to solve the same issue, but with a different solution.

     

    Is it possible to designate 1 or more dedicated servers as "premium" servers to use in surge traffic? For example, if 1 video goes viral, and has thousands of people watching, this video is then assigned to a different server (in same group) that is dedicated to high viewing/viral videos, and then gets switch back to the general servers once there are less viewers?
